No. 305
The picture is not too saying much about their actual size, other than they have not capped. Are you growing them in sterile compost/peat? That's important if you don't want to get sick from any impurities. Also, the thickness of the stems and bed of growth indicates they are rather heavily saturated with water. Are they kept in the open like that? The ideal growing chamber is a terrarium with a glass partition that fits diagonally in the terrarium, with a little air space on the sides and top (quarter to a half inch). Keep the mushrooms in their peat base on one side of the chamber and spritz the water on the other side of the chamber: direct water on the mushrooms is not good, they should get their moisture via high humidity in the chamber. The humidity is ideal at around 90-95%. Indirect light is good, such as in an open hallway or open closet that get their light from the doorways and the light present during a typical "outside" day should be fine. Temperature is also important, keep the terrarium at 80-90 f degrees. Investing in a small digital thermometer and humidity gauge you keep in the terrarium are well worth it. If you follow these simple rules you will grow optimum potency mushrooms (usually far better than most stuff you buy on the street) and will have no sickness from impurities, even though the mushrooms themselves do produce some stomach upset, you will not get poisoned from any tainted medium the mushrooms are grown in. Good luck.
